Wow! BART!

So here it is. I'm finally experiencing BART, which is the bay area rapid transit. I haven't exactly had an opportunity to ride it before, being from the south bay area and all. But I'm live-blogging from my phone, so all is well.

It was so hard to find this place in Fremont! Google maps GPS on my Motorola Q 9h had me taking 680 and getting off on Washington Blvd. which good lordie I know there's a faster way to get here. There just has to be. Anyways, once I got here, it took another 15 minutes to find parking, mostly because I was circling the lot closest to the front of the station and of course that's been full since like 5 a.m., and I couldn't for the life of me find another lot.

With the help of a kind stranger standing outside his car on the phone, I found the back lot where there were maybe 40 spots left, all of which were a good 5 minute walk from the actual station itself.

The newsstand lady helped me buy my ticket, both for my ride to Powell St and back. Apparently all you have to do is put the money on your ticket, however much you want. Interesting. She also helped me pay for my parking, which is also a peculiar system in its own. I'm used to paying for hourly parking and then putting the stub on your car type of lots, but here their spaces are numbered. To me that meant permit holders only & I had to confirm with the newsstand lady twice before I was certain my car wasn't going to get towed. Well, assuming I remembered the right parking spot number. Guess I won't be in at work if they tow it huh?

The BART train itself reminds me of the NY subway, but instead of plastic we've got carpet. The population varies as we stop at more and more stations.

Well enough blogging. I hope I dont miss my stop!
